How to Prepare for College and Excel Once You're There
Finding the Right School
I've helped thousands of high school students and their parents successfully navigate the college decision making process.
My goal was never to convince someone to come to my school. My goal was to help them find the place that was right for them. If they decided early on that my school wasn't the right fit, I encouraged them to let me know. If they were interested, I still continued to help them with the process. If there was a dream school they had always wanted to attend, but couldn't seem to get that school's attention, I contacted the school and did everything possible to help them fulfill their dream. My commitment was always helping students find the absolute best fit.
Our pre-college conversations centered around numerous topics, including:
- Being Brutally Honest
- Personal Priorities
- Taking Responsibility
- Focusing Your Search
- The Importance of Being a Good Student
- NCAA Guidelines
- Timelines
- Paying Attention to Detail
- How Athletics Can Enhance Your Academic Success
- Avoiding Decision Making Paralysis
- Finances
We expanded on each of these topics and many others in order to simplify and enjoy what can often be a confusing and overwhelming process. I can do the same with you.

Making the Most of the College Experience
My original intent upon entering graduate school was to become a college professor. Although I eventually got sidetracked into coaching, I quickly found that I could teach while also running around a bit on the soccer field each day as well. Not a bad gig.
Although I'm a fierce competitor, soccer has ultimately been a medium for helping our student-athlete athletes develop into successful, autonomous people who positively impact the world during their time in college and after graduation. As with the recruiting process, my goal has always been to help each and every student fully develop their own unique potential on and off the field.
Our college discussions centered around numerous topics, including:
- Respect
- Accountability
- Communication
- Effective Study Skills
- Reverse Time Management
- Personal Growth
- Peak Performance
- Developing Career Foundations
- Privilege Over Entitlement
- Giving to the Community
We regularly explored these and many other topics as we navigated the wonderful journey through college and beyond. Whether you are a current college student, a recent grad, or just starting your college search, I can work with you and share the methods that have allowed our students to become All Americans, Academic All-Americans, NCAA Post Graduate Scholars, Conference Post Graduate Scholars, Conference Student-Athletes of the Year, Rhodes Scholar nominees and more.
